ATWIMA KWANWOMA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY OBSERVES GREEN GHANA DAY

The District Coordinating Director for Atwima Kwanwoma District Assembly, Madam Eunice Korankye, has called on all well-meaning Ghanaians to plant more trees to curb the menace of the fast-depleting forest and also avert the negative change in our climate.

She made the call during the Green Ghana Day observation on Friday, June 7, 2024 at the forecourt of the District Assembly, under the theme “Growing for a Greener Future”, urging everyone in the district to take the President’s call seriously to better enhance healthy living as a people.

The Coordinating Director reiterated that, it was against this backdrop that the government as a matter of urgency has decided to plant more trees across Ghana to avert the depleting nature of the forests. She then pleaded with all to adhere to the call and join forces together to plant more trees and Green Ghana for a better tomorrow.

Mr. Joseph Abilla, the District Forest Manager, implored all to get involved in the project and do the needful by embracing and supporting the project to change the Ghanaian society and the activities of the illegal miners and chain saw operators across the country.

He said these plants at the same time serve as medicine and food and at the same time cool down the environment which should not be under estimated at all thus the call for planting more trees.

“The Asanti Region has a mandate to plant some 4,000 trees out of the 10,000 trees Ghana is planting in 2024, and by so doing the district also is expected to 10,000 trees as part of its effort to compliment that of the regional target for the year. Source: SAMUEL ANTWI, ISD
