IDENTIFICATION AND REGISTRATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITY

During the quarter under review, a total of twelve (12) PWD’s were identified and registered. Below is the breakdown.

   REHABILITATIVE COUNSELING

All the newly registered PWDs received counseling. They were advised to apply and access support  from the Disability Common Fund in order to improve upon their conditions of living so as not to become a burden to society. They were also counseled to focus on their abilities rather than their disability. 

WORLD DISABILITY DAY

As part of activities to commemorate the World Disability Day within the District, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development in collaboration with the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of Atwima Kwanwoma District, organized a programme for Persons living With Disabilities (PWDs) on Tuesday, 12th December 2023 at Atwima Foase. The Department trained the PWDs in Bar soap making and also sensitized them on Domestic Violence Intervention.The PWDs showed much interest in the training and expressed their sincere gratitude. They also wished for  more of such programs to be continuously organized to help them improve upon their skills and knowledge. In all a total number of one hundred and fifteen (115) people were present. Out of the above number, a total number of ten (10) people were officers from the Department, two (2) people were from DOVVSU, three (3) people were from BAC and the remaining hundred (100) were PWDs.
