ANNUAL REPORT ON LIVELIHOOD EMPOWERMENT AGAINST POVERTY (LEAP) 2022

The LEAP management secretariat (LMS) under the ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has been implementing the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) programme since 2008.However, the Atwima Kwanwoma District was enrolled onto the LEAP programme in the year 2016. Initially, the programme was partly funded by foreign donors and partly by the Government of Ghana. Currently, the programme is fully funded by the Government of Ghana and that puts a lot of pressure on the public purse.A total of five thousand five hundred and ninety – seven (5597) beneficiaries from the fifty – eight (58) LEAP beneficiary communities, which is eight hundred and eighty – two (882) households received leap grant every two months.During the year under review, 75th to 80th payment cycle was successful completed.  Out of 905 households, 882 households had their e-zwich card credited. The remaining 23 are still pending payment from GhiPPS.An amount of Eighty – Six Thousand, One Hundred and Forty – Eight (GH 86,148.00) Ghana cedis was paid to 882 households during the year. On 15th March to 5th October 2022, the Department Social Welfare and community Development in collaboration with Bosomtwe National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) embark on district wide, new registration, renewal and replacement of faulty NHIS card for all LEAP beneficiaries. A total of four thousand, two hundred and eighty – nine (4289) leap beneficiaries were enrolled into NHIS.
