ATWIMA KWANWOMA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT ON GIRL CHILD EDUCATION IN ATWIMA KWANWOMA DISTRICT FOR THE YEAR 2022

The Department of Social Welfare and community Development, as part of our mandate, embarked upon a series of activities for the promotion of Girl Child Education within the district within the year under review. Relying on the social structures of the district, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development identified the religious bodies, traditional institutions, the local government structures as well as any other public gathering as a means of contact to the masses for the sensitization on Girl Child Education. 

1. Visits to the mosques

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development with our able staff visited a number of mosques for the sensitization on Girl Child Education. The sensitization visits took the Department to seven public Mosques in the district; namely, Boko, Foase, Trabuom, Nweneso No. 1, 2 and 3 and Brofoyedru.  The dates for the visits : Friday 24^th  June, 2022, 29^th  July, 2022, 14^th and 28^th October,2022 and 11^th and 25^th November,2022.The Department visited Muslim leaders in the  Mosques as shown in the pictures below.The Department was assured of the promotion of Girl Child Education from the Muslim Leaders. Several verses of the Quran and the Hadith were quoted by the Muslim leaders to ensure all Muslim girls were educated.

B.VISITS TO THE CHURCHES As done with the Muslim communities in the district, the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development with our able staff also visited some churches on the sensitization of Girl Child Education mission to the Christian communities in the district. The individual staff who worship in various Christian denominations were shared to take up the sensitization issues in their respective churches on their worshipping days.Young ladies in the various churches were sensitized on the need to take their education seriously as that brings social-economic development to their lives, their communities and the nation as a whole.

The various churches were charged to take up the education of the females at heart and offer scholarship to the needy girl child.

1. Town councils
