NPP Parliamentary Primaries: Deputy Minister of Defense Retains Seat

The Deputy Minister of Defense and Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwanwoma, Kofi Amankwah-Manu, has been retained as the parliamentary candidate for the constituency beaten his contender, Paul Kwaku Kyei Ofori. The incumbent won with 874 out of the total votes of 1,181 while the other candidate polled 305 votes.

Voting proceeded smoothly at the Nkoranza D/A Basic School Park for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency in the Ashanti Region. The exercise took off at exactly 7am to see delegates queue up to cast their votes peacefully in an exciting mood chanting for victory for the constituency .A total of 1,218 delegates across the constituency were expected to vote to elect their preferred candidate to represent the party in the 2024, December general elections. The delegates, made up of polling station officers and constituency executives, patrons and council of elders, electoral area coordinators, as well as founding members of the party in the constituency, were expected to decide the fate of who leads the party as a Member of Parliament. A total of two (2) candidates contested for the seat in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency. A visit to the scene by the Information Services Department (ISD) to the polling center indicated a smooth and peaceful atmosphere as the delegates joined in the queue to cast their vote without any intimidation whatsoever.
