COMMISIONING OF POLICE STATION AT AHENEMA KOKOBEN

A cocoa shell building was renovated and converted into a police station by a philanthropist, the European Economic Chamber of Trade Commerce and Industry representation office for Ghana, led by Prof. Dr. Lukmon Owusu Ansah.

Speaking at the commissioning of the police station on Thursday, 25th January 2018, a speech read by Mr. Emmanuel Ntoso, District Coordinating Director on behalf of Hon. Nana Okyere Tawiah Antwi, the DCE of Atwima Kwanwoma District disclosed that the strategic location of this police station would assist in bringing down various social vices, among them armed robbery, the land guard system, assault cases, and car snatching that were of ascendency at Ahenema Kokoben and its environs. He therefore called on parents to advise their children to abstain from such social vices.

Ashanti Regional Police Commander C.O.P. Ken Yeboah called on the public to furnish the police administration with necessary information to deal with criminal activities in the district. He added that, availability of information from the public is essential in the discharge of duty of the police and called on the police officers to be professional in handling informants, as most of them end up being attacked by criminals after their release from prison.

DCP Ken Yeboah said ‘no amount of money should be paid at the police station in the aid of reporting cases and bailing suspected criminals’.

Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei Mensah called on the public to emulate Prof. Lukmon to support security effort in the country in terms of infrastructure or requisite resources that would aid the police administration to maintain peace and security in order to ensure socio economic development in the country

He expressed concern about the killing of two policemen at Drobonso in Kumawu and called on the Community to leak information to the police administration. He also assured the Ghana Police Services Commitment of government to provide logistics in order to assist them in discharge of their activities.

Other personalities present were Nana Konadu III, the queen mother representative; Nana Baffour Agyei Tutu, Otumfour Anantan Hene, Hon Asuah Dadzie , presiding member of Atwima Kwanwoma District,Nana Gyamfi Berko, Ahenema Kokoben chief, ACP Mensah Duodu, Custom officer and Nana Owusu Diaka, Otumfuor Kyeame.
